What We Do

PROGRAMS

CAC mobilizes communities, organizations, and governments to raise awareness and push for policy change. We empower the public to take an active role in shaping health systems and cancer control programs that reflect the realities of African societies.

Capacity Development

We promote the establishment of national population-based cancer registries to collect and analyze critical data on incidence, prevalence, and survival rates, enabling evidence-based planning for cancer prevention and treatment.

Cancer Research

THE CANCER BURDEN

Cancer is one of the fastest-growing health threats worldwide.

  • In 2020, cancer caused 10 million deaths globally, more than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.
  • About 70% of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, where access to healthcare is limited.
  • In Africa, most cancer cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, where treatment options are minimal.
